Jomtien Beach, a short distance from central Pattaya, is a calmer and quieter version of the neighbouring district. While Pattaya has a reputation as a twenty-four-hour city with bars and restaurants as far as the eye can see, Jomtien is more beach-orientated.
The sea is cleaner and clearer than neighbouring Pattaya, and the pace of life is generally slower making this seaside resort an ideal retirement destination for tens of thousands of Westerners each year.
Attracted by the cheaper cost of living and comfortable lifestyle many Westerners are now looking for a condo for sale in Jomtien to settle down and enjoy the sun, the sand, and the surf.
But what is there to do in the Jomtien area?
The Beach
The beach is without doubt the greatest attraction to Jomtien. Long and often fairly deserted, you can take long barefoot walks with the soft sand massaging your feet. The sight of the ocean nearby makes this a priceless view. Volleyball matches often take place on the beach. Jet skis can be ridden out to sea, while some expats maintain yachts that they sail out to the blue yonder. Swimming and snorkelling are good here, and further out to sea scuba-diving trips can be arranged. Or you can simply rent a deck chair for the day and relax with the latest spy thriller novel.
Khao Chi Chan (Buddha Mountain)
The Buddha Mountain in Jomtien Beach attracts tourists by the droves. This spectacular feature is an image of Buddha it sculpted on a limestone hill. The golden sculpture glimmers from a distance. Seventy meters wide and at thirty meters long the image is overwhelming up close and from afar. This, the largest carved image of Buddha in the world, attracts tourists and locals alike.
Pattaya Boxing and Fitness Gym.
Located on Jomtien Road Beach Road only 100 meters from the sea, and set in a relaxed atmosphere, this Thai Boxing gym is equipped with all the free weights and machines that youโll need to build strength and skills in the countryโs national sport. Workouts as well as Muay Thai trainings are suitable for both male and female members. There are three rings to practice in, heavy bags, training programs, and all the equipment you will need to train to tournament level.
Underwater Pattaya
If you are fascinated by sea life then a visit to the world-famous Underwater Pattaya is a must. An experience of a lifetime for the family and a great place to relax and unwind with friends or by yourself. Immerse yourself in a giant underwater aquarium teeming with forms of sea creatures swimming in their natural habitat. You can rest assured that the visit is well- worth your time since there is a lot to see and learn here.
Pattaya Floating Market
Another must-see when in Jomtien Beach is the famous Pattaya Floating Market. Vendors sell a wide array of merchandise including handicrafts and art directly from their boats. If you are lucky, you might even catch an ongoing cultural performance or other live show within the market.
